Safety becomes paramount when visiting a ski resort or skiing in a snowy area. Therefore, all skiers require essential safety gear in case an avalanche occurs. Below are three important tools to guard against harm during an avalanche.
Avalanche Transceiver. The avalanche transceiver becomes a beacon that sends out a proximity signal for the victim in send mode. It then latches on to the signal while in receive or search mode, making it easy for the victim’s companions to find them.
Snow Probe. The snow probe triangulates the location of buried skiers after the transceiver initiates a search. The wand device looks like a tent pole, capable of folding into sections. Thus, it becomes easy to carry in a pack. However, using a longer probe is more beneficial for deeply buried skiers.
Snow Shovel. A snow shovel helps remove victims from large volumes of snow.
